Born in the field, not a lab
FairGrow began with a vision, shaped far from any laboratory. Rob Camerlink, founder of EasyData, developed it on his travels to some of the world’s most remote regions, where he kept seeing the same thing: skilled growers doing serious work with almost none of the technology that big agriculture takes for granted.
EasyData serves customers all over the world. Beyond the reach of the cities, Rob saw a clear need for accessible technology to help the farmer, tools built for real conditions rather than the showroom. The intelligence already existed; it simply never reached the people who needed it most. FairGrow is EasyData’s answer, developed by its engineers and refined season after season for the way people actually farm. Every feature in the platform exists because something in the field needed it.
The mobile app exists because a grower cannot sit behind a desktop all day, and needs to check the greenhouse from a phone while out in the field. The Telegram alarms exist because the crop has to be watched from wherever you happen to be. EasyData supplies the engineering: custom ESP32 sensor design, the FairGrow backend, the mobile app, and the statistics layer that powers the machine-learning benefits. FairGrow learns from your land, your experience and your way of working.
When you start using FairGrow, you connect to EasyData, the engineering house behind the platform. Everything runs on Dutch agricultural innovation, hosted in a Dutch, ISO 27001-certified datacentre on European soil, with secure email and platform services that keep your data yours. Nothing drifts off to servers you cannot see. And because the places that need this most rarely have perfect connectivity, the platform keeps working on a weak signal. You do not license a piece of software. You get an engineering team that stands behind you, season after season.
Made for remote regions
Industrial greenhouse platforms exist, and they are excellent at what they do. They also cost as much as the greenhouse itself, demand a steady high-speed uplink, and rely on expensive sensors. For a smaller producer in a remote valley, a cooperative supporting a dozen farms, or an NGO running an agricultural programme, that is simply not the right tool.

Custom ESP32 sensor nodes
Sensors designed around the crops and climate you actually grow in. Air, soil, light, weight, water flow, battery health and signal quality on one tested platform, with over-the-air firmware updates and rollback.
ESP-NOW smart satellites
Not every spot has mains power. Tiny battery satellites speak a short-range protocol to a nearby mains node that forwards their readings. AA cells last 9 to 14 months. Ideal for raised beds, cold frames and outlying plots.
Mobile app for daily use
A progressive web app that installs to the home screen on iOS and Android. Plant-scan tool, sensor lookups, alarm controls and a device-add wizard, in Armenian, Russian, English and Dutch.
Insight that grows with the data
Daily summaries, 7-day and 30-day rolling averages, growing-degree days per crop, ET0 (FAO-56 Penman-Monteith), VPD, and 24-hour forecasts that blend your data with regional weather models.
Alerts that respect your life
Email and Telegram messages reach the right person, with quiet-hours protection so a non-urgent reading never wakes you at 03:00. A per-rule urgent override covers events that truly cannot wait.
Agronomist consultancy
A practising agronomist reviews your readings with you by appointment, suggests irrigation, fertilisation and pest-management adjustments, and helps you read seasonal trends. You bring in this advice when you need it, as an add-on service on top of the platform.
Second life for old tablets
Our mobile access runs smoothly on older iPads and phones that are no longer supported elsewhere. That is not just a smart form of reuse: it puts touchscreen control within reach of growers for whom a new device would otherwise simply be too expensive.
Your own workflow on the canvas
Drag modules onto the canvas and build exactly the routine that suits you. Connect your sensors and the weather forecast to smart logic that drives the pump of your choice, with a safe test environment, volume limits and alarm notifications included. That way you stay in control and always know what is happening.
Zigbee for the European market
Sensors need not be unreachable or expensive. Specifically for the European market we added a Zigbee platform, with hardware you can now buy on practically every digital street corner. That is how we bring FairGrow to Europe and make even ML technology affordable within reach of the home grower.
What the data actually tells you
Watering advice that thinks ahead
FairGrow tells you when and how much to water. Every reading from your soil and weather sensors flows into one recommendation, backed by a full water balance.
- Water demand (ETc): what your crop loses today under current weather
- Net demand: what is left after rainfall and stored soil moisture
- Recommended dose: the exact amount to apply, in L/m²
- Root-zone moisture: a live bar from dry to saturated
Above 60% soil moisture the logic simply tells you to wait. Open the simulator to test a heat wave, a rain forecast or a different crop.
Read plant stress before it shows
VPD is the single best number for how hard your plants work to stay hydrated. FairGrow pulls live temperature and humidity, calculates VPD every hour, and explains what it means in plain language.
- Below 0.4 kPa: mould risk, air too saturated
- 0.4 to 1.2 kPa: optimal, healthy transpiration
- 1.2 to 1.6 kPa: high, watch your water supply
- Above 1.6 kPa: stress, growth stalls
The 24-hour chart shows where you have been and where you are heading, so you act before a problem sets in.
Sensors that learn from each other
Each satellite forwards its readings into a single, minute-by-minute timeline of every greenhouse, bed and outlying plot, even where WiFi never reaches. That timeline is where FairGrow stops being a logger and starts being an advisor.
Machine-learning models, trained season by season on your own circumstances, turn moisture, light, temperature, VPD, forecasts and canopy imagery into clear actions: when to water, when to wait, and what to expect. A second model in development proposes non-synthetic fertilisation strategies, weighed against soil-moisture trends, VPD history and canopy development.
Satellite imagery
FairGrow pulls Sentinel-2 imagery from the European Copernicus programme straight into your dashboard. Eight views of the same plot, cached locally so they stay usable when the field WiFi drops to one bar.
- True colour and false-colour NIR for the wide picture and chlorophyll activity
- NDVI and EVI for vegetation vigour, even in dense canopies
- NDMI and NDWI for canopy moisture and standing water
- SWIR and SCL for early stress signals and a full scene breakdown
