Open ESP32 hardware, the firmware is yours
FairGrow runs on affordable, widely available ESP32 devices. Every paying subscriber can download the full firmware source code from our website, at no extra cost. And we keep shipping new sensors and smarter firmware, so the technology quietly does more of the thinking, and you spend your time growing.
Standard ESP32, not a black box
FairGrow is built on the ESP32 family, the same low-cost, widely stocked microcontrollers that power millions of connected devices worldwide. One ESP32-C6 acts as the Zigbee coordinator for your site, while ESP-NOW satellites carry readings back from the far corners where no cable reaches. Because it is standard silicon, you can source it anywhere, and nothing about your setup is a sealed box you cannot open.
The firmware is yours
Every paying subscriber can download the complete firmware source code straight from our website, at no extra cost. Flash it yourself, check exactly what your devices do, or adapt it to a sensor we have not covered yet. You are never dependent on us to keep your hardware alive, and you always know what is running on your land. This is our answer to lock-in: open hardware, and open firmware to match.
Download and flash
Pull the full source from your account and flash it to your own ESP32 devices whenever you like. No sealed binaries, no gatekeeping.
Audit every line
See exactly what your devices measure, store and send. Full transparency over the code that runs on your land, nothing hidden.
Adapt to your crop
Add a sensor we have not covered yet, or tune the logic to your setup. Or tell us, and we will likely add it to the mainline for everyone.
Always getting smarter
We work on FairGrow every week. New sensors join the supported list, and firmware updates make the ones you already own sharper: better battery life, a more reliable mesh, smarter logic running right on the device. You get those improvements as they land, without buying new hardware.
New sensors, regularly
The supported list keeps growing, from soil and climate to light and flow. New hardware options arrive as we test and validate them.
Smarter firmware, same devices
Updates sharpen the hardware you already own: cleaner readings, longer battery life and more decision logic running on the device itself.
Over-the-air updates
Improvements reach your devices in the field without a site visit, so your network stays current with no effort on your part.
Proven in a real nursery
Every change is tested in a working nursery, not just a lab bench, so what reaches you has already survived real soil and real weather.
Less thinking on the land
The goal is simple: a grower should spend time growing, not configuring. As the firmware gets smarter, more of the routine decisions move onto the device itself.
It reads the soil, weighs the weather, and tells you plainly, water now, wait, or hold, so you can walk your rows and trust the system to have your back.
ESP32 and firmware, answered
Which ESP32 devices does FairGrow support?
An ESP32-C6 as the Zigbee coordinator, ESP32-based ESP-NOW satellites for hard-to-reach spots, and standard Zigbee sensors alongside them.
Do I really get the firmware source code?
Yes. Every paying subscriber can download the full source from our website at no extra cost.
Do I need to be a programmer?
No. Everything works out of the box. The source code is there for those who want it, not a requirement.
Can I add a sensor you do not support yet?
Yes, that is exactly what open firmware is for. Or tell us, and we will likely add it. See standard sensors, no lock-in.
How often do you release updates?
Continuously. New sensors and firmware improvements land regularly and reach your existing devices without new hardware.
Own your hardware and your firmware
Tell us about your site and we will set up a no-obligation pilot, source code and all. See what open ESP32 hardware and firmware you own actually feels like in the field.
